Episode 5 Preview - Summersong

This week, part two of our Summer Song theme with the appropriately titled "Summersong" by The Decemberists.

Carolyn Beaumier joins up with me again to discuss my pick for this topic.  We laughed, we cried...one of us ranted about lyrical conspiracy theories for like five minutes.  Fabulously uncomfortable for all involved!

You can download it on iTunes , Google Play, or Amazon Music.  The whole album "The Crane Wife" is less than 10 dollars and well worth picking up if you don't already own it.  You're welcome for the plug lead singer/songwriter, Colin Meloy.

No official music video, but here's some dude's bootleg iPhone footage from a Decemberist's concert.

And, of course, the lyrics.  Can you find the hidden meaning inside that the government doesn't want you to know?  Don't forget to check back with us on Wednesday for the thrilling conclusion of our Summer Songs!

"Summersong"
Ramblin' where to begin
I taste the summer on your peppery skin
Been saved the warmer the waves
I felt a slip into a watery grave

My girl, linen and curls
Lips parting like a flag all unfurled
She's grand the bend of her hand
Digging deep into the sweep of the sand

Summer arrives with a length of lights
Summer blows away
And quietly gets swallowed by a wave
It gets swallowed by a wave

Waylay the din of the day
Boats bobbing in the blue of the bay
In deep far beneath all the dead sailors
Slowly slipping to sleep

My girl, linen and curls
Lips parting like a flag all unfurled
She's grand the bend of her hand
Digging deep into the sweep of the sand

Summer arrives with a length of lights
Summer blows away
And quietly gets swallowed by a wave
It gets swallowed by a wave...
